Dear Representative:
On behalf of the 60 affiliated unions of the AFL-CIO, I write to urge you to oppose the impeachment of Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas.
The Homeland Security Committee has produced no evidence of high crimes or misdemeanors, as the Constitution requires, but is nonetheless proceeding with an unprecedented impeachment effort based purely on policy disagreements.
These politically-motivated tactics set a dangerous precedent, and distract from important business on which the Congress should be focused. Rather than spending time and resources on political stunts, working people expect lawmakers to prioritize solving real problems, like funding the government.
We urge you to reject this baseless impeachment effort and vote against the impeachment articles brought against Homeland Security Secretary Mayorkas.
