15th Annual IBEW Photo Contest Displays Great Talent

Bill DeClement , Folsom, N.J., Local 351 took first place.

This year's winner of the Electrical Workers' (IBEW's) annual photo contest, Bill DeClement, from Folsom, N.J., Local 351, took home first place for his photo of two IBEW members riding in a "window rig at about 7 a.m. one morning in Atlantic City when a blanket of fog rolled in, swaddling the ocean and city below." The photo was taken from the highest Atlantic City building, the Revel Casino.

UNITE HERE Members in Atlantic City Set Up Hurricane Sandy Relief Center

UNITE HERE Local 54 casino workers in Atlantic City, N.J., are pitching in to help their members and the local community impacted by Hurricane Sandy. Local 54 has started a Helping Hands Relief Center to provide the public with information and help to apply for services. Local 54 President Bob McDevitt told the Press of Atlantic City newspaper:

There is an incredible need in the community....We felt we should coordinate this. As far as organizations go, we connect to most of the people.

N.J. AFL-CIO Delegates Re-Elect Wowkanech and Brennan

Nearly 700 delegates, representing 1,000 labor unions and 1 million union members of the New Jersey State AFL-CIO, re-elected President Charles Wowkanech and Secretary-Treasurer Laurel Brennan to their fourth four-year term and unanimously re-elected all members of the New Jersey State AFL-CIO Executive Board.
